We are based in Herradura so we visit Jaco Beach almost daily. Diamante del Sol is finished and is open for business. We have referred many of our site visitors to that property and heard nothing but good things about them. One visitor said that they did not have phone service in their room but that was the only thing that was not operating and which did not interfere with their vacation.

The property is managed by Daystar Properties and if you visit the location you can see that from the beach side the hotel is finished and very very beautiful. At this time, this is our favorite condo project to refer people to. It is brand spanking new and luxurious to a point that you feel your home away from home is no longer satisfying. It is something you need to experience for yourself.

There are similar condos that are as luxurious in Los Suenos but NONE are on the beach like Diamante del Sol. You can walk out of your condo and be in the surf in less than a minute. Luxury combined with beachfront location, this is our most favorite condo rental to date. The second would be Vista Las Palmas but the way some of those units face, you do not get the same view as Diamante gives you. All units in diamante face the beach. If you go to VLP make sure which way your unit is facing if that is important to you. We will most likely add something like that soon since we get that question alot. We have had many members stay at La Paloma Blanca which is a Daystar Properties community and they all love it. We have a tab designated for Daystar because of the frequency of questions are the same as Los Suenos which these two companies are by far the most professional and rent out fabulous and luxurious condos and villas.

To answer your original question: Sorry I like to blab. The current hotel sales tax in Costa Rica is 13% down from 16.36% a year ago. Whether or not your condo owner charges you tax is a independent decision but I can assure you that Daystar and Los Suenos do charge and follow all reporting regulations for operating a business here in Costa Rica. I do not know about other locations and I am sure many get away from paying taxes here but committed and professional companies are here for the long haul and need to keep their nose out of trouble.

Sweetie, the condo project is called Vista las Palmas and the property management company is Mead Brown. It might be a person whose name it is made after but there is nobody in Jaco named Mead, well there might be but it is the company that is managing this not a person.

I agree with you that it is not professional to have a security guard check guests into a high priced condo rental but that is what they do in Jaco. This would not do in other locations such as Aruba where we have a condo rental manager who takes care of our place and even meets the guests at the airport.

The copacabanahotel, probably has the best food, right on the water, a tad secluded, a little funky, but within walking distant from downtown Jaco. Sometimes on Friday and Saturday night they have a live band (jazz, rock etc) and caters to the more younger and fishing crowd.
