There are dozens (hundreds?) of places to learn surfing in CA. Start at a surf shop, and ask there. Go to a real surf shop, not a bathing suit store that sells some surfboards. The folks there will hook you up with lessons (either individual or group) and even rent you a board if one isn’t provided with the lessons. Real surf shops are great places, with lots of knowledgeable surfers to help you out. You can try on line, but face to face is the best way to do business.
